Exfoliating Gloves vs Loofah

Taking a shower is an important part of our daily life. It helps us to stay hygiene and fresh. To make a shower perfect we usually use various tools like body wash, shampoo, shower oil, scrubber, loofah, exfoliating gloves, etc. But, sometimes we get confused by some tools. Exfoliating gloves and loofah are one of them.

Both of them help us to do exfoliation. But, which one you should use? Is it ok to use any of them while taking a shower? Or should both of them be used for different purposes? If you are about to ask these or questions like these, it is the right place for you.

Here I tried to cover the head to head difference between the mostly used shower tools – exfoliating gloves and loofah. I am sure, you will get all the answers from here. Let’s see.

General Definition

Both exfoliating gloves and loofah serve the same purpose in a slightly different way. They basically used as exfoliating tools while taking a shower.

I have to say that loofa is the ancestor of all body exfoliating tools. Not only our parents, but our great grandparents also used natural loofa to exfoliate their hand feet and body. Loofa is a cheap, easily available, and a very effective tool for exfoliation.

On the other hand, exfoliating gloves are the updated version of loofah. I must have to say exfoliating gloves are handy and user-friendly. It is an example of the invention of modern thought.

Making Materials

Most of the exfoliating gloves are completely made with synthetic materials like nylon. It is because nylon made exfoliating gloves can stand against water in the long run and give the smooth exfoliation which you won’t get from the cotton fiber.

But you can get the shower loofah in two forms – natural and artificial. Natural loofah is made from the dried fruit of loofah plant. When the fruit is ripened enough, it becomes fibrous with hard fiber which is extracted from the dried loofah.

Synthetic loofah comes with different shapes, sizes, and colors. You can pick anyone from them. But, I prefer natural loofah to exfoliate my body than the synthetic one.

History

loofah is used is various purposes since long ago. It was first used by the Ancient Egyptian as a sponge. Even the name luffa was coined from the Egyptian Arabic language. Since then loofah is now used in every corner of the world for different purposes, especially as bath-mate.

On the flip side, exfoliating glove is a modern invention. It gives you the feeling of body exfoliation with hands. And you can do it very easily.

Exfoliation Intensity

From my point of view, this is the main difference between exfoliating gloves and shower loofah. If you want a soft exfoliation, exfoliation gloves are great. But, loofah is for slightly hard exfoliation. You can use both of them for the different portions of your body.

Benefits and Drawbacks

Exfoliating Gloves

Exfoliating gloves are really user-friendly. It gives you that ease of exfoliation which you can’t get from anything else. You will get a soft, smooth, and radiant skin with regular exfoliation. You can use it to exfoliate your face, neck and decollate.

Exfoliating gloves remove the dirt, impurities, dead skin cells, etc. and helps to accelerate the cellular regeneration process. As a result, you will get anti-aging benefits with newer skin. Exfoliating gloves are also great for sensitive areas like underarms and groin areas.

It is great to use exfoliating gloves to exfoliate some body parts like the gap between fingers and toes. Here, loofah can’t give you such a satisfactory result, even sometimes it can’t reach those areas.

Another great benefit of exfoliating gloves is you can use it with shower gel, body wash, even bar soap. Whereas, loofah isn’t good to use with bar soap.

You can use exfoliating gloves for dry brushing. It helps to reduce the signs of cellulite to give smooth and radiant skin. Dry brushing also helps to remove the toxin by stimulating the skin.

Shower Loofah

Loofah gives you almost all the benefits you get from an exfoliating glove. But, it is for slightly hard exfoliation compared to exfoliating gloves. Loofah shouldn’t be used on the face and delicate parts of your body.

Due to the hard and dense fiber of loofah, using it with bar soap isn’t a wise idea. The soap will get stuck inside the loofah which isn’t pleasant to see. Besides, loofah is usually hard to clean than exfoliating gloves.

You can use a loofah to exfoliate your entire body like exfoliating gloves. But, loofah is much better to exfoliate the areas with hard skin like elbows, knees, and heels.

Things that you won’t get from exfoliating gloves are back scrubbing. In this situation, loofah is completely successful. A loofah with handle will help you to exfoliate your back with your own hands.

Do you use loofah soap ever? If you don’t, try it. It would be an amazing experience for you. It is a bar soap with a loofah inside. Just a two in one.

Another great benefit of loofah is you can grow loofah plants in your own garden. It is very easy to grow and one plant will give you as much loofah that you can use them year-round. You can also eat green loofah as a vegetable.

One of the major drawbacks of natural loofah is it is much prone to bacterial attack than a synthetic loofah or exfoliating gloves. But you can prevent it by cleaning and disinfecting your loofah properly.

Price

There is little difference between the price of exfoliating gloves and loofah. Exfoliating gloves are slightly pricy compared to the loofah. I think it is negligible. And if you can grow natural loofah you will get it at almost no price.

My Opinion

I like both exfoliating gloves and loofah. They give a nice exfoliation in different ways. I use both of them where they should be used. Now the decision is yours. You know your needs better than anyone else.

My favorite exfoliating gloves are Dermasuri Deep Exfoliating Mitt Body Scrub and loofah is Essentially Yours Natural Loofah.

The Last Words

I hope now you have a clear concept of exfoliating gloves and loofah. Both of them are good to use. But, your decision and comfort always get the top priority. In spite of all logic, which serves your purpose well is always better.
