It is an unusual way to lighten underarm darkness. And I don’t see any recommendation from a dermatologist. Or I don’t even get any scientific proof of such benefits of toothpaste.
But, in several blogs and YouTube videos, you will see the various skincare usages of toothpaste. Toothpaste is used to lighten skin, fade dark spots, erase wrinkles, and more.
I also used toothpaste a few times on my armpits. And I get some improvement in my armpit’s color. But, I don’t use it anymore. Now I use other home remedies to lighten my armpits. Honestly, I don’t think it is the best way to lighten dark armpits.
Anyway, be careful if you set your mind to use toothpaste for dark underarms. In this post, I will tell you the effective way to use underarms on armpits.
And the decision is always yours. Let’s see…
Check the Toothpaste First
You should check it first if you want to lighten underarms with toothpaste. You should check its ingredients and test the sensitivity of the toothpaste on your skin.
Toothpaste manufacturer produces toothpaste by focusing on teeth, gum, and mouth. They used the ingredients which give benefits to your teeth. That’s why you should check the ingredients before using on the skin. If your toothpaste contains triclosan, sodium fluoride, or sodium lauryl sulfate, I suggest you not to use. And don’t use gel or color toothpaste on the skin. Only white toothpaste is safe enough to use for skin. You can also use charcoal toothpaste to lighten your underarms.
Now do a patch test before using toothpaste on the delicate part of your body. Apply a small amount on various spots of your hands and wait for 10 minutes. If you don’t get any signs of redness, irritation, itching, etc. then you can take further steps. But, if your armpit skin irritates after using toothpaste, stop there and seek another method to lighten underarms.
Procedure
You can apply toothpaste on your underarms in two ways. These are very easy. You can apply toothpaste with lemon juice or with tomato pulp. Let’s see in detail…
Toothpaste with Lemon
In this method, lemon is used as a natural skin bleacher. Both toothpaste and lemon work great to whiten your underarms. Toothpaste kills the odor-causing bacteria and lemon ensures an effective exfoliation.
Take a small glass bowl and put two teaspoons of lemon juice in it. Then put some white toothpaste and mix well. You should adjust the amount of the ingredients to make a thick paste. Before applying, clean your armpit first with your regular cleanser. Now apply the toothpaste and lemon mixture to your underarms. Wait for 10 minutes to let it work. After that wash off with plain water and use your regular moisturizer. Do it twice at least twice a week to get the improvement to your underarms.
Toothpaste and Tomato Pulp
Take a fresh ripe tomato and turn it into tomato pulp with a blender. Now mix 1 tablespoon of tomato pulp and the desired amount of white toothpaste to make a thick paste. Put the paste on your clean underarms and wait for 10 minutes. Then, wash it off the plain water and moisturizes it with a moisturizer. You will see improvement within a few days. Apply this toothpaste pack twice a week.
Cautions
Some people keep the toothpaste pack on the skin for the entire night. I don’t think it is a wise decision. Because toothpaste isn’t made to care for skin. And there are not enough studies that support the use of toothpaste on the skin. Anyway, if you use toothpaste to lighten your underarms, 10 minutes is enough for this.
The Last Words
There are lots of home remedies you can use to lighten dark underarms. They are safe and effective. Unfortunately, if those remedies aren’t working on your underarms, you can try toothpaste for dark underarms.
But, I don’t recommend it strongly.
